Patricia is a first-generation American, born and raised in Los Angeles to a Salvadoran mother and German father. She spent her childhood in South LA before moving to the coast as a teenager. Growing up between cultures, traveling, and being surrounded by the incredible mix of sounds and traditions that make up Los Angeles gave her a natural curiosity about music in all its forms—something that has stayed with her throughout her life and deeply influenced Ladybug Music.

Her musical life started young, first through dance and performance at school in Inglewood, and later playing in a hardcore punk band as a teenager. From there, her musical world kept expanding. She studied songwriting and voice at the Grove School of Music and later received a songwriting scholarship to Musicians Institute, while exploring everything from jazz and soul to rock and music from around the world. She formed a small jazz quartet and eventually her own band, performing original music throughout Los Angeles. Her songs were later featured in film and television.

Patricia began teaching early childhood music in Los Angeles in 2004, and those years in the classroom eventually led her to create Ladybug Music in 2009. She saw a real need for children’s music that didn’t have to be overly simplified just because it was made for young children—music with real musicianship, interesting rhythms, rich arrangements, and enough soul that adults could genuinely enjoy it too. Drawing on everything she had learned as both a working musician and a teacher, Patricia created the Ladybug Music curriculum, wrote its original music, and reimagined traditional songs from around the world. The goal was to create a shared musical experience—music that could engage young children while also resonating with the parents, grandparents, nannies, and caregivers listening, singing, and moving right alongside them.
